Evidence Based Dentistry

We realise that deciding to start any dental treatment can be confusing. This is because you have never seen the inside of your mouth and viewed your teeth up-close.

At Caring 4 Smiles we practice evidence based dentistry – i.e. you get to see why you require dental treatment and how it will be performed. Our practice is current with the latest developments in dental technology to provide our patients with the most accurate diagnosis and treatments available. Our dental technology includes:

Digital Imaging and Recording

Our digital Imaging and recording processes are the fundamental basis of evidence based dentistry. We give patients a comprehensive view of their mouth and oral condition before any treatment is undertaken. Still images are stored on file so that we can compare changes / deterioration at each of your examinations. You can also request a copy for quiet review in the comfort of your own home.

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays reduce radiation exposure by up to 90%. This makes digital X-rays a safe, effective and essential tool for modern dentists. Digital views enable us and our patients to view their X-rays instantly on-screen. Additionally, as people move around the world, their records must be in portable format for easy transfer to the next dentist. X-ray films deteriorate rapidly.

Diagnostic Laser Dentistry

The Diagnodent Laser plays an important part in our preventive care program. This modern instrument is a fast and painless non-invasive tool that helps us to accurately identify weakened or decaying tooth structure and so treat problems early at lower cost. Early detection = smaller fillings = no pain and much lower filling costs.

Ozone treatment for “no drilling” fillings

Ozone application prior to fillings removes the need for extensive drilling. It is used as a non-invasive treatment to fight tooth decay. It kills the acid-producing bacteria that cause decay, without the need to numb a tooth or drill the tooth. Ozone pre-treatment of teeth has revolutionized dentistry.
